3. Mr. Johnson called the attentic of the Committee to a despatch from the Governor of Hong Kong asking that the site originally proposed in Kowloon Bay might be released as it was required for development purposes 8

suggesteyas an alternative that the stat station might be erected on Stonecutting Island. He pointed out that at the 9th Meeting the Committee had come to the conclusion that Kowloon Bay was not

a suitable site as the high land of the Island of Hong Kong might interfere with cornication with. Singapore, and had suggested that a better site right be found in the Yaurati district. This

had been communicated to the Governor who appeared however to have overlooked the alternative suggestion.Mr. Johnson added that the details as to the shape and bearing of the site required for a Marconi station had not yet been communicated to the Governor; and it appeared doubtful whether a station of

the required dimensions could be

erected on Stonecutters Island.

Colonel Macdonogh said that while

a station on Stonecutters Island would

be well within the defences the presence

of high masts on the island might interfere with rilitary arrangerents. He still thought that the Yaurati district was the most suitable but did

not consider it would be safe to give
